About Wycombe

Within easy commuting distance of London and Britain's own Silicon Valley - the Thames Valley - High Wycombe is ideally situated for living and for business.

Half way between London and Oxford, just off the M40, it is a Buckinghamshire town that's booming.

For years it was the centre of Britain's furniture and chair-making industry - the furniture industry is still prominent in the town - but today it also hosts a variety of nationally significant companies and a wealth of new businesses.

Yet despite its growth, Wycombe is surrounded by some of Britain's most beautiful countryside - the Chiltern Hills to the north, the Vale of Oxford to the west and the Thames Valley to the south. Small country towns like Marlow, Amersham, Beaconsfield and Princes Risborough are just a few miles away and are popular venues for residents old and new. About 100,000 people live within the environs of Wycombe. The Prime Minister's country retreat Chequers is also on the doorstep.

Wycombe's multi-cultural, multi-skilled community gives a real buzz to the town and a feeling it is really going places. A major new shopping centre and entertainment complex is awaiting a final go-ahead. Bisham Abbey continues to attract the country's top teams for training. And even the town's football team - Wycombe Wanderers - is one of the fastest rising in the country, having jumped from the Conference to Division 2 in just a few seasons.

The area's links with the past are there for all to enjoy - Hughenden Manor, Benjamin Disreali's former home, is a major National Trust property; the West Wycombe Caves is the former venue of the infamous Hellfire Club; and the nearby villages of Penn and Jordans have connections with America's founding fathers.

Just a few miles away are major tourist attractions like Windsor Castle, Hampton Court, Kew Gardens, and the dreaming spires of Oxford itself.

Little wonder then that the Wycombe area attracts famous names to live in its area - from pop stars to politicians.

We hope this site gives visitors old and new a flavour of what Wycombe has to offer. Come along and see us for yourself one day. We know you will be pleasantly surprised.
